Driveway redesign.

These clients were not happy with the layout of their existing driveway. The garden with pungas at the end of the drive came out too far and inhibited reversing from the carport. ‘They were also unsure what to do with the long narrow garden alongside the driveway and the area near the shed at the back was completely underutilised.

The plan involved removing the raised punga garden and while there still had to be some retained garden, we lowered the height and increased the reversing space. Previously there were a multitude of hardscaping elements, including pavers, stones and concrete so we removed the paving and extended the concrete driveway, then grassed the rest to create another area for grandchildren to play.

I placed a foldable clothesline in the far right back corner with large pavers beneath. Overtime  low groundcover or dwarf mondo will grow between the pavers.

Alongside the drive will now be a pleached hedge of Michelia. A pleached hedge is a hedge with the foliage being displayed on a single straight stem. A bit like a standard tree but in this case, a hedge. This will lighten the heaviness that a long full hedge would create.
